The program is presented in five one-day sessions that will begin on September 6, 2008 and occur every other Saturday thereafter from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
All teens must be in the 9th or 10th grade, and attending high school.
Participants are required to attend all program days. If accepted, mandatory attendance is required for Session One.
Each session offers a hands-on experience and a unique opportunity to interact with community leaders. In addition, students will be exposed to the many great things about the Birmingham area.
Sessions will be targeted on:
- Introducing participants to well-known and popular attractions in Birmingham
- Teaching students about the history and culture of Birmingham
- Exposing participants to potential volunteer opportunities in Birmingham
- Creating an opportunity for newcomers to meet and befriend other people who may also be new to Birmingham

Participant applications are also available at the school counselor office. Potential participants are asked to provide a school counselor and community reference. In addition, in order to be considered for the program, all students must have their parent's/guardian approval. Participants for the program will be notified of acceptance in early August
